Works nicely. A few small wood chips creates a lot of smoke. I was surprised to find out that there is no igniter/heat mechanism. You have to light the chips using a secondary lighter. Also, the chips are not in a closed chamber. They sit in the black hole at the top. So, this thing is effectively a little vacuum. It's easy to use though and the rectangular shape makes it easy to keep the chips in place since it doesn't roll around. The vacuum effect helps suck the flame towards the chips so it lights up pretty easily and quickly.However, because the chips are open, it will smoke after you turn it off, so it's not really feasible to use indoors. You'll also want a place ready at hand to dump the chip remnants when you're done.
Handy little smoker. Bought it to use in my culinary endeavors but I discovered a totally unorthodox use... had a mouse in the ceiling of my 5th wheel. Loosened the interior vent cover & stuck the little hose up into the 'attic'. Mouse came running out, down my arm & right to my cat. No more mouse!
Was a bit skeptical at first seeing the low price on this product, but when I used it the first time, I was blown away by how well it works! A definite must have for those who like that Smokey kick in their food!
The perfect size for infusing that rich smoky flavor into your food. Its also great because if you don't have a grill and want that smoked flavor you can achieve it with this. It works well with cherry, maple, and apple wood chips. Don't forget to follow the instructions included for just the right amount of smoked flavor.
I've experimented with a lot of foods. Beef, pork, lamb as well as a few varieties of seafood and other items. Coffee grounds, bread, oatmeal, tomatoes , etc.... Keep in mind that is cold smoking! Your food will not be cooked! This will impart a smokey flavor to whatever you use it on, but it will not cook your foods! ENJOY!!!
Great for use while BBQing to add some smoke flavor to meats, etc! Would recommend as an inexpensive replacement to a conventional smoker to save time and hassle.
All of the foods had a terrible chemical taste to it. The product had smoke come out of it after turning on fan, lighting it, and placing tubing in container, but the food and tubing had a terrible chemical smell to it.
