Activity Tracker with Move Bar and Alerts

Features 1+ year battery life Reminds you to stay active with move bar and audible alert Learns your activity level and proposes a personalized daily goal Shows steps, calories, distance and time of day on backlit display; monitors sleep Automatically syncs to Garmin Connect to save, plan and share progress

Get up and get moving with vívofit 2. It’s the only activity tracker with a 1+ year battery life and backlit display. It even reminds you to stay active throughout your day with its move bar with audible alert that lets you know when you’ve been idle for an hour or longer.

Tells Time and “Time to Move”

Research shows prolonged periods of inactivity such as sitting at a desk decreases your body’s production of fat-burning enzymes. You can reverse that effect by taking frequent, short walk breaks throughout your day. And while you might lose track of time and forget to move, vívofit 2 knows. A red move bar appears on the display and a gentle alert sounds after one hour of inactivity. The move bar builds every 15 minutes until you reset it by walking for a couple of minutes. Don’t want to be bothered with a beep every hour? Set up your compatible mobile device to vibrate as your cue to move…

Editor Review

This is my full review of the Garmin vivofit 2 which as the name States is the second generation vivofit product and trust me it makes a number of meaningful improvements over its predecessor and I have all the results from my workout up online check it out so that was my first test and this is my initial review of the Garmin vivofit 2 which is a product that I’ve been waiting a long time to actually get my hands on and it’s $59 to $75, if you get the heart rate monitor bundle now I bought just the band and I paired it with my Garmin soft strap monitor and everything worked just fine you should be able to use just about any heartrate monitor you want as long as you see the little plus symbol on it and you’ll be good to go now there were really four things that stood out in my mind about the vivofit 2.

I’ll have a lot more information in my full review but the big 4 things that really stood out to me.

  1. First one is the locking mechanism it’s a quarter turn locking mechanism which means that it’s not going to fall off your wrist pretty much ever because it actually locks around your wrist it’s not like the Vivofit one or the Vivosmart where you need a bandit or a keeper to keep it secure to your wrist this one actually locks it’s pretty awesome I’m a big fan of the locking mechanism on the Vivofit 2.
  2. It has a backlit display which if I have any Vivofit 1 or original Vivofit users watching this video you’ll know that having a backlit display is huge this means that you no longer have to press down the button and count five seconds to make sure that entered sleep mode all you do is hold down the button and you can actually see it because it is all illuminated that’s a really nice feature.
  3. The third thing that really stood out to me is that it’s a little bit more customizable this time and I think that’s actually a change within the Garmin Connect application which is available both via bluetooth to your iOS or Android device and then also via USB to your computer it actually comes with a small USB dongle that’s a NT+ enabled and that allows users that want to sync via their computer or people that don’t have a smartphone or a supported smartphone to sync it with their PC or Mac and on the web, basically it allows you to set a different group of screens depending on what you’re doing so if it’s all-day activity if you’re just your regular day you can select a certain amount of screens and a home screen and then if you’re in an activity let’s say you’re working out you can have a whole different suite of screens that show up and a different home screen that was really nice for me.
  4. The last thing and I think this is something that we’ve all come to expect from the view of fit lineup is amazing battery life, the Vivofit 2 is powered by CR1632 coin cell batteries and will get you right around 12 months of battery life which is a huge plus in my opinion you don’t need to charge it at night 12 months without having to replace the batteries that’s pretty awesome and then it’s water-resistant up to 5 atmospheres or 50 meters so go swimming with it wear it in the shower it’s intended to be submerged you should be just fine and I really like the fact that you can wear for your swimming workouts as well now in terms of what I liked about the vivofit aside from what I’ve already mentioned.

Now I’ve been very very happy with it, I think probably the one thing that I have been bogged down by I guess is that you have to manually enter an exit sleep mode and I’ve already forgot to do that but since the sleep analysis is very basic as is you can go ahead and change your duration on the mobile app so it’s not the best analysis but at least you can go back and add in your sleep if you forgot to track it at night and I suppose also related to sleep mode is that you have to manually sync the device which means that when you open up the application you’re Vivofit to is not going to automatically sync with Garmin Connect you have to hold down the button until you see it display the word sync and then it will transfer over your data this is kind of a hassle but I think it helps with battery life and I’ve already gotten used to it it’s not that big of a deal so that pretty much all the information.

I know you came here for my recommendation and to be completely honest with you the vivofit 2 is a real winner I really like this device in fact I like it so much it’s probably going to become my go-to fitness tracker at least until I have to test out another few trackers here in the near future and I would definitely recommend it I think it’s one of the best devices out there right now, I don’t know why you would buy the first generation over the second generation one, they’re the same price. I like playing around the Vivofit 2 and maybe I’ll get some more fitness.
