Editor Review

Looking for the Best Forerunner 35 Watch? Here are our top picks with Quick reviews to help you purchase the perfect coffee machine for your needs.

Garmin is out with yet another GPS wants you this time it is the forerunner 35 so we have the forerunner 10 the 15 the 25 which came out last year (2016-2017) that’s the one that my friend uses and now we have the 35 and essentially this watch is the 25 plus an optical heart rate sensor and a completely a new design you could also consider it the vivosmart HR plus in watch form you can kind of think of it either way but it is the next watch in their lower-end section of running watches so this guys can be $166 to $199, I know it’s not cheap but up against the foreigner to 30 to 35 637 35 XT it is a little bit cheaper so this is for the person that runs a few times a week they want optical heartrate. They want activity tracking, a few smart features and decent looking watch.

That’s what the foreigner 35 and I will be doing a full review of it, I could run through all of the specs but really all you need to know is optical heart rate you got GPS not GLONASS battery life should be pretty acceptable, it’s going to be right around 13 hours in training mode that is GPS and heart rate running or right around 9 days that’s what Garmin says if you have it in watch mode so I’m guessing right around six days of average battery life if you’re training every once in a while with this and if I kind of think about the watches out there from Garmin you got the 15 which nobody buys anymore the 25 which is decently popular and then you get a large jump you go right to the 230 or the vivoactive HR and those are both $250 so they kind of had a little gap there people were a little bit interested in the vivosmart HR plus but this fills that gap so the foreigner’ 35 I think is actually going to be very popular it looks like a really nice watch like I think this might be one of their best looking watches very sleek very stylish it does have a really nice display on it but I’m interested to see how that fares in sunlight it looks like it could be a bit reflective but we’ll have to check that but let’s just run through some of the things that are important in terms of what it can do for you on the sports side of things, it’s mostly for running it will work for outdoor running indoor running and you don’t require a foot pond to get your pace or distance it has that built-in accelerometer and then a little bit for cycling and then another catch-all sport profile so you can do a few things on it but it’s mostly built for running although across all of these four profiles nothing is advanced about that it’s the standard basic metrics distance pace speed route timing information and heart rate essentially for running you will get your cadence probably within Garmin connect after the fact it won’t be in real-time you can set up various goals for when you’re out there running so time distance goals things like that and it does have a vibration motor so it will alert you of whether or not you’re on pace to hit your goal but you won’t get any of the advanced training dynamic stuffs or training programs if you want some of that stuff go get the to 30 to 35 637 35 XT this is for people that run a few times a week and don’t really care about that hardcore metrics don’t really care about vo2 max or the training programs or any of the stuff that the higher end devices offer you.

It’s just the standard basic stuff here nothing bad about that, it’s just that people don’t want to get bogged down with too much data you can pair it with external heart rate monitors and the HR and run HRM try but you won’t get your advanced running Dynamics, it’s just going to pull your heart rate from those heart rate monitors and that’s really it for the sport stuff in terms of activity tracking a very similar story the basics so all day steps calories burned intensity minutes sleep and heart rate and then you do get a daily steps goal and auto goal where Garmin adjusts your daily steps goal based on your recent activity level so it’s still relevant to you everyday kind of keeps you motivated every single day you get a move bar that tells you how inactive you’ve been and move reminders that tell you to get up and move and then probably a silent alarm thrown in there but nothing crazy on the activity tracking side very standard stuff for the smart features, it’s going to be much of the same you’re going to get most of the basic information that will show up on your wrist like some phone notifications music controls and live tracking so nothing insane about this watch but for the average runner I think this is a great option, it’s fifty dollars cheaper than probably the watches I would have recommended for people you know the vivoactive that you know vivoactive HR the 230 so I think this was in a necessary gap to fill and I think it’s going to be decently popular I like the design of it I like having the heart rate sensor activity tracking smart features I think the sports stuff is good enough especially for the people that Garmin is targeting with this watch so I’m curious about it I want to try it out I will be doing a full review of it.
